Pest Control in Holton, IN
Holton is a small Ripley County railroad town about 30 minutes from our Hayden base on US-50, close enough that we reach it on short notice. After the March 2, 2012 tornado, a lot of the town was rebuilt, and new construction needs termite protection from the start. The older frame homes beside farmland have their own problems: mice and wasps. Call (321) 496-4080. Rural addresses make it easy to miss a turn, so we always ask for landmarks.

A rebuilt town beside open farmland
Holton was platted in 1854 along the railroad, and for most of its history it was a tidy cluster of frame houses surrounded by fields. On March 2, 2012, an EF3 tornado cut through the town. Many homes and buildings were rebuilt in the years afterward, so today a newer slab-on-grade house can sit a few doors from a farmhouse that predates the Civil War.
That mix creates two different risk pictures. New foundations have fresh soil disturbed around them, and subterranean termites can reach a slab or a sill through a hidden gap or an expansion joint with no outward sign for years. An initial pretreatment or a follow-up barrier is much cheaper than finding damage later.

Older houses near the fields deal with mice every fall, plus paper wasps under porch roofs and barn eaves from midsummer on. Because Holton is small and mostly surrounded by crop ground, there is no real buffer between the farm edge and the back door.
In rebuilt areas, watch for the quiet signs. Thin mud tubes on a foundation wall, soft spots in trim near the ground, and discarded wings on a windowsill after a warm spring day are the usual signals. Unlike mice, termites announce themselves only briefly, so a scheduled inspection is more reliable than waiting for a problem to show itself.
US-50 and the road to Versailles
US-50 is the town's spine and the road we drive to get here from Hayden, passing through Butlerville on the way. The county road grid on either side leads quickly to farms and woodlots, which is where many of our calls originate. Versailles and Osgood are both a short drive down the same highway.
People who rebuilt after the storm often ask a version of the same question: what should I be doing now that the house is new? Our usual answer is a termite inspection or barrier treatment within the first few years, then an annual check. For an older farmhouse, the better advice is a fall walk-around to seal sills, door sweeps and utility lines before mice come inside.

Distance works in your favor. Holton sits near the middle of the US-50 corridor we work every week, so a wasp nest or mouse call here rarely waits long. Residents on the county roads north and south of the highway should mention a nearby landmark like a farm sign or church, since rural addresses are sometimes hard to find.
Holton's rebuilds are now more than a decade old, and that matters. A soil termiticide barrier laid at construction in 2012 or 2013 does not last forever, so an inspection of the slab edge, porch posts and garage sill is due. Downed trees and storm debris once left stumps and buried scrap wood, and carpenter ants still follow those into new additions. Grain bins and pole barns behind many lots hold feed that draws rodents, and the gap between a barn door and the back door of the house is short.

Pest control services in Holton
Termite Control
Rebuilt post-2012 homes sit on disturbed soil with new slabs and sills; a liquid barrier or bait system protects them before any damage starts.
Termite Inspection & WDI Reports
Buying or selling in a rebuilt neighborhood still calls for a WDI inspection, because new construction hides termite entry points as well as old.
Rodent Control
Older frame houses against the cornfields get mice every October, so we seal the gaps and don't rely on traps alone.
Wasp, Hornet & Yellow Jacket Nest Removal
Open porches, barns and outbuildings on the edge of farm ground host paper wasp and hornet nests all summer, often removed same day.
Ant Control
Pavement-edge and foundation-line ants are common around new and old homes alike, and baiting the colony works better than spraying visible trails.
Preventative Pest Control Plans
A seasonal exterior program covers spiders, ants and mice in a town where crop fields reach right to the property line.
